The C5 sports a 16-megapixel camera on the rear and an 8-megapixel camera on the front. The phone is powered by a 2,600mAh battery.

Love e-shopping? 10 tips to make sure you don't lose money

Love e-shopping? 10 tips to make sure you don't lose money

10 tips to make sure you don't lose money

Online shopping is fun. But it can also be tricky. You don't know the seller. You can't see the actual product. You see only images. This is the reason why sometime people get a brick in the box when they order a smartphone. Or end up buying a Rs 100 top while they wanted a television.
The sum of the matter is that while shopping online, you should shop smart. Just don't buy something because it looks like an unbeatable deal.
So, how do you shop smart? Here are 10 tips.
  1. It is important to understand that online shopping websites host thousands of third-party sellers. So, if you are buying any product from Flipkart, it does not necessarily mean that you are buying it from Flipkart directly. Flipkart does not sell products directly. But it does have a retailer which it can call its own and that is the retailer you should preferably buy from. So, on Flipkart buy from WS Retail, which is the in-house retailer. What it ensures is that the delivery and the while handling of the purchase process is managed professionally. Similarly on Amazon, look for Cloudtail retailer, which is the in-house retailer. Although in the case of Amazon, buying products that are "Fulfilled by Amazon" is also very safe because these products are already in Amazon warehouses even though they are being sold by third-party sellers. On Snapdeal look for sellers with Snapdeal quality check.
  2. Buy goods from sellers that have good reputation in terms of its feedback score and have successfully made a few hundred transactions. Also, always buy goods from familiar websites.
  3. When shopping on eBay, always pay the bill through PaisaPay. Also get the items through courier instead of pick for sometimes like local pick up, even if the seller is in the same city. This will help create a record of your transaction, which can be later used if you face any trouble with a seller. eBay doesn't pay PaisaPay money to a seller unless it receives a product delivery confirmation.
  4. Buy goods that come with official warranty and not "seller warranty". In case you buy any faulty product with seller warranty, you will have to run to the seller for replacement or repairing.
  5. Always try to buy from only the sellers that have shared their contact details on the website. This shows the seller is genuine and is open to queries.
  6. If you come across any issue with the product, ask for claim with the platform owner immediately. Look for their social media accounts so that you can easily communicate with them .
  7. Avoid buying products that have no images or scanty product details.
  8. If possible, go through reviews of the product before you buy it. Not all but at least 4-5 reviews can help you have a clearer idea about the quality of product as well as the shipping process followed by the seller as people often leave reviews on the e-retail websites after buying products.
  9. Be careful about the price strategy. It is possible that you may bought a product for Rs 500 but by the time you check out, the amount is increased with some unknown charges applied to it. Always review the extra charges that are added to your product.
  10. Share your credit or debit card details wisely. Sharing the details for big websites is not a problem. But if it is some local site or an unknown foreign site, be careful. If possible opt for cash on delivery.

Toyota plans to roll out petrol version of Innova

Toyota plans to roll out petrol version of Innova

Carmaker Toyota is working on a petrol variant of its multi-purpose vehicle Innova after the company's sales took a hit following a ban on registration of diesel cars with 2,000cc and above engines in Delhi-NCR.
"Delhi-NCR is the biggest market among other regions of the country. Since sales of Innova and Fortuner have stopped there, there will be considerable impact in overall sales," VP of Toyota Kirloskar Motor Sailesh Shetty told PTI on the sidelines of the launch of Innova Crysta here.
"Last year, we had sold 1.39 lakh cars in the country.
This year, the sales figure will be in that region," Shetty said today.
He further said, "We are meeting all the emission norms as per government regulations... Diesel is a good fuel and we hope that the ban will be lifted some day. However, we are working on the petrol engine of Innova, the highest selling MPV in the country".
He said that Toyota had not been able to sold any Innova or Fortuner vehicles in Delhi NCR since the ban was imposed since December-end.
Sales of MPVs in India was between 8,000 to 9,000 units per month, he said, adding that 7 per cent of the sales has been hit in Delhi-NCR following the ban.
The earlier version of Innova would be phased out which would be replaced by Innova Crysta.
In the meantime, the new vehicle saw a good response from consumers on the first day of its launch.
"Over 60 per cent of the 15,000 bookings we have received so far are for the automatic version that too of the top-end model," Toyota Kirloskar Motor vice chairman Shekar Vishwanathan told reporters after launching the new MPV in Mumbai.
As of now, the customers in Mumbai will have to wait for more than two months to get delivery. As the demand increases they will ramp up output and lower the waiting period, he said.
The topend Innova Crysta (2.8-liter, 8-seater with AMT) comes for Rs 20.77 lakh here while the low-end model is priced at Rs 13.83 lakh.
He said since 2005, the year Innova was first launched, the company has sold a little over 6 lakh Innovas in the country, while globally it has 1.6 million customers. The Innova was sold only in three markets apart from India - Indonesia, Thailand and Dubai.
Innova has been the market leader from the start. Despite the market getting so much cluttered with almost all companies having at least one model in the MPV segment, it still enjoys 35 per cent market share, the company said.

Now you can share documents using WhatsApp Web

WhatsApp has added document sharing support to WhatsApp Web. Although the company is yet to make an official  announcement of the feature, users on WhatsApp Web can now share files like Word documents using a web browser. Until now only two formats -- images and videos -- were supported through the WhatsApp.
The WhatsApp Web, which is an extension of the WhatsApp on phone, was launched in January last year. It allows users to access WhatsApp in a browser although, to do so they need a working WhatsApp account and data connection in their phone. A few days ago, the company also announced a native WhatsApp app for Windows and Mac computers. Although this too requires a working WhatsApp account on a phone.
WhatsApp Web earlier allowed users to share photos and videos already saved on a computer through the web service. It also allowed users to click or record images or videos through a web browser then share it. Now, the attachment option also includes document sharing feature alongside sharing photos and videos.
WhatsApp has been adding features to its various services to provide more usability to its users. The document sharing feature for mobile app was launched in March this year. The document sharing feature is supported on Android as well as iOS platform. But users have reported that one cannot send a document from WhatsApp Web until the receiver has also updated the app to the same or newer Android app version.
Also rumours are that WhatsApp has been planning to add some more features to its mobile app. These features may include video calls, voicemail, zip and vcf sharing support and group invites via NFC tags.
To use WhatsApp Web app, the user needs to scan a QR code using the WhatsApp on the smartphone.

The Bajaj V15

The Bajaj V15: Patriotic stripes

Bajaj V15The Bajaj V15 is made from the metal of India's first aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant.

For perhaps the first time ever, a commuter motorcycle made the front pages of more than just automotive portals and publications. That's because the Bajaj V15 is more than just that. It's a brilliant case study in marketing, a salute to patriotism and a segment-breaker. Now, not all these points are necessarily important to the person who'll consider this as his next motorcycle but it definitely doesn't hurt the V15's chances. Especially when you consider that most in the commuter segment largely play by the same safe rules.

Overall dimensions itself are a radical departure from the commuter segment. A smaller rear wheel than the front? Unheard of. A single seat? You'd have to be mad.

The V15 on the other hand, doesn't. Not in the least. The overall dimensions itself are a radical departure from the segment. A smaller rear wheel than the front? Unheard of, except in the case of a cruiser. A single seat? You'd have to be mad, unless you were building a café racer. Yet, the V uses these elements successfully. No surprise then, that it looks a bit like a cruiser motorcycle backed into a café racer. It's a look that works though, with the muscular 13-litre tank being the centre of mass on the bike.

Neutral light especially useful since neutral is right at the bottom of the one-direction gearbox.

The tank is also the centre of the buzz around the V15. Because it's made with the metal from an aircraft carrier, the INS Vikrant. Sure, a motorcycle made from a ship is pretty cool but what makes it momentous is that the Vikrant was India's first aircraft carrier and was an integral part in launching the offensive in the 1971 Indo-Pak war. A highly decorated service vessel, the ship was decommissioned in 1997 and further served as a naval museum until the Indian Navy could no longer keep it afloat. It was dismantled and the scrap metal was put up for sale, which is where the brilliance of Bajaj's advertising agency and their marketing department come in. The idea to use the metal from the INS Vikrant in a motorcycle was floated and it neatly coincided with Bajaj's plans for a 150cc commuter that would break the mould.

Made with the metal of INS Vikrant, this insignia greets you every time you get on. It does make you feel good about what you're riding.

Things fall to hand easily from the rider's seat, except the clutch lever that was set to engage much further out than I'm comfortable with. Seating is typically commuter, with the large tank adding to the sense of solidness that this bike has a healthy dose of.

Switchgear is basic and falls to hand easily, though a pass switch for low beam/high beam would’ve come in handy.

This is especially characterized by the new 149.5cc engine. New, despite Bajaj having three choices in the Discover, Pulsar and Avenger powerplants. This 2-valve engine was built to make torque available low in the rev range. And it does, making its marginally higher peak figure 1,000rpm earlier than its siblings. This means it takes off from standstill quite eagerly, while sounding more full-bodied than the other commuters out there. Unique to Bajaj is the all-up configuration of the 5-speed gearbox and you'll have to use it often to make progress since gearing is short but when you reach a speed breaker, you can get away with downshifting to second or even third gear. The V15 will not urge you to shift into first by lugging or forcing you to ride the clutch. This was the best part of my experience with the motorcycle and I found myself in traffic in what I thought was first gear, only to realise I was actually in second.

V badges replace Bajaj, with the Bajaj logo only present on the engine cover and dash.

Also surprising is how the Bajaj takes corners. As a commuter, the ride had better be good and it is. But thanks to the gas charged shocks and mainly the wide rear rubber, the V15 remains very sure in corners, even at speed. More relevantly, it also feels composed over bad roads. Braking is progressive and sufficient to slow you down without drama, with confidence helped by the firmness offered from the 33mm front forks that are wider than the competition.

Verdict
It may only be available in Pearl White or Ebony Black but the V15 stands for choice to the consumer. It's uniqueness isn't the only thing going for it either. Fit and finish, especially of paint, is great. Ride quality is composed, tending towards firm. The engine makes good torque though the gearbox could have been smoother. For the price of most 125cc motorcycles, you get a 150cc that ticks the right boxes for the Indian commuter and also has the legacy of a 40,000 ton war hero behind it.

Seat cowl can be removed in minutes with the allen key integrated into the key fob of the motorcycle. This and the red grab rail make up the mandatory accessories pack, that also includes crash and saree guards.
